Biography
My name is Rafa Maritza Hertrian. I was born in 4th of August 2005 and I am currently 18 years old. I am an Indonesian citizen that decides to go to Malaysia for college. I am currently studying Creative Media because I have always been interested in the design field since I was a child.

My interest in design started in elementary school in the simplest way possible, I saw someone in my class started drawing and I got curious. I started drawing since then and never stopped learning different ways to draw since then. After years of learning how to draw autodidact, I realize that drawing is not as simple as only making random strokes and forming random object/subject that may look good in our own eyes. It also has other design elements that needs to be learnt to enhance any visual image.

In highschool, I entered a visual art course. From that I have learned so many things that I missed that may seem simple but is surprisingly very crucial in the designing world. I have to relearn the fundamental aspects of design such as shapes, composition, unity, harmony, color combinations, and etc. Armed with a deeper grasp of the intricate world of design, I'm not just polishing my skills; I'm rediscovering the timeless beauty that these fundamentals weave into the art of visual storytelling.

From this journey, I realize that I am the type of person that is driven to always learn something new about the thing that I love to do. This might be a strength that I should hold for the future knowing that in the ever-evolving world of design, the pursuit of knowledge is limitless. Embracing this mindset, I find not just fulfillment in honing my skills but a sense of excitement for the endless possibilities that continuous learning presents in the future.

Work Statement
For this work, I plan to create a digital poster that represents one of the traits I have that I considered as a strength, which is my willingness to self-improve. As a young person, I realized that there are still countless things that I need to learn to be an innovative adult. Therefore, I enjoy learning new things for third parties. This does not only refer to academics or talent skills but also fundamental things that needs to be mastered in life such as emotional intelligence.

To represent this, I will take a portrait of myself from different angles and combine them into a single portrait. It symbolizes different versions of myself as I have been through different phases in life. I purposefully chose a portrait format since it offers a classic and personal view into my life. Because of the digital media, the several photographs may be blended together seamlessly, highlighting the fluidity of personal development and metamorphosis.

Other element that I want to include as one of the main feature of this poster is butterflies that wraps around my portrait to indicate the unpredicted moment in life. The transition of a caterpillar into a butterfly is a potent representation of change and metamorphosis. It stands for the notion that growth and positive transformation are achievable on a personal level.

This digital poster highlights the vibrant tapestry constructed through the strands of inquiry, resilience, and the persistent pursuit of a better self, rather than only representing personal improvement.
