Rationale
The film "Fishboy" employs stop motion animation's distinct and tactile
texture to craft a darkly amusing story about a boy whose features
resemble fish navigating a weird environment. This animation style
enhances the story's themes of acceptance and solitude by adding a unique
charm and eerie, otherworldly feel. The film's elaborate, handcrafted
visuals emphasize the character's emotional depth and sensitivity by
drawing viewers into the protagonist's strange yet familiar journey.
"Fishboy" explores complicated human emotions through its imaginative,
painstakingly animated environment by utilizing the expressive
possibilities of stop motion. The film is both visually stunning and
emotionally poignant.
Rationale
The stop-motion movie "Lost & Found," which aired on Short of the
Week, is a moving tale of sacrifice and friendship through painstakingly
drawn animation. The film follows a knitted dinosaur who is desperately
trying to save his knitted friend, a knitted fox, who has gotten into a
dangerous situation, using the visually gorgeous and emotionally stirring
medium of stop motion. The stop motion technique's tactile nature improves
the story by giving the characters a real sense of texture and movement,
which heightens the emotional impact. This artistic method leaves a
lasting impression on the viewer while showcasing the film's precise
craftsmanship and highlighting its heartfelt themes of bravery, devotion,
and selflessness.
Rationale
The tactile and expressive features of stop motion animation are expertly used by Stratostorm in their heartwarming stop motion picture "UMBRELLA" to convey a message of kindness and understanding. The story, which is set in an orphanage, centers on a young girl whose need for an umbrella stirs strong feelings of hope and compassion in the reader. The film's deftly rendered images and nuanced character movements enrich the narrative, giving the emotional feelings and moving moments a stop-motion realism all their own. In addition to enthralling the audience with its exquisitely animated scenes, "UMBRELLA" leaves a deep and enduring impression by imparting a potent lesson about empathy and supporting others.

Proposal
Before starting the final stop motion project, the students were
instructed to create a proposal to plan out what the stop motion would
look like. It will include the synopsis of the stop motion, sketch, and
planning. The proposal is below:
Making the Props
My partner and I decided to use paper cuts and Lego as our material for the
stop motion. We used some colored paper and cut them into the props we
needed.
Properties
Below are the properties we used in our stop motion. It includes a school
background, a house, a home background, and a competition background. tables,
recycle ingredients, and Lego people.
We shoot our stop motion in the studio using our phones and stop motion
application. We also did some editing to make some scenes look more natural by
adding stable effects.

REFLECTION
Experience
Compared to other projects I have done in this module, making a
stop-motion film is so far the most challenging task. For me, it is
time-consuming and takes a lot of effort and energy. It is challenging
because adjusting per movement takes a lot of effort since the props I
used are small which is hard to move without making it fall.
Observation
I noticed how important it is to film a stop-motion film in a room where
the lighting would not change at all. This is because the change of
lighting would make the clips look unappealing. When shooting the
stop-motion above, me and my teammate adjusted the lighting and made sure
it does not change along the time of the shooting.
Findings
Mr. Martin told us that we needed to add scenes that shows our stop-motion
skills. This would mean we need to add certain movements that represents
movements we see in daily life and it should be more than just making the
subject walk or move. In this project, me and my teammate added a scene
that shows the process of object creation.
