FEEDBACK
Week 1
General Feedback: The students are instructed to read through or explore the documents provided in teams to understand thoroughly.
Week 2
General Feedback: make sure the research topic is not about a specific topic that is leading away from the specialization.
Specific Feedback: My research topic is still unclear as there are several grammatical errors. The topic is also suggested to be supported by an actual case reference
Week 3
General Feedback: Make sure that the topic is based on real-life issues that connect with the specialization, and use the correct in-text citation.
Specific Feedback: Dr Yip Jinchi suggests changing my research problem a little bit so it is easier to answer. My problem statement also needed more details to connect with the research problem by introducing what I meant by Publication Design. Dr Yip Jinchi also mentioned that my research objectives need to be changed to the goals that is aimed at the research.
Week 4
General Feedback: start on task 2
Specific Feedback: Instead of focusing on how designers work, you should focus on how design works. Do rephrase this. Reword your RQs to match each RO. While books are useful, you are predominantly required to read research articles.
Week 5
General Feedback: Do not make the critical review to long and make sure that it does not contain too much work from the article.
Specific Feedback: In the research problem section, Specify "standard". Different publication covers will have different designs and purposes. There is no right or wrong way but what is more open for discussion is "effectiveness". This is not aligned to the RO. Your RO seeks to investigate the IMPORTANCE of visual hierarchy but the RQ is asking what are the keys to a good visual hierarchy. Therefore, please align and match them. RQ1 to match RO1.
Week 6
General Feedback: remember to submit by week 7 and start on task 3
Specific Feedback: I have to be consistent with what I am researching. If I want to research on novel cover then I have to stick to it. For my critical review, make sure to justify why the weaknesses and strengths of the articles are relevant to my research. Make sure to use APA style on every reference.
Week 7
Specific Feedback: Avoid writing in the first or even the second person. You can replace it with "the researcher" or write in a passive sentence. Apply this throughout your writing. Not being the focus of your research should not be a weakness. Your comments for this should revolve around how effective (or ineffective) the paper is from various angles: methodology, paper structure, etc.
Week 8
no Feedback (ILW)
Week 9
General Feedback: When making questionnaires for interviews or surveys, make sure that the questions are all relevant to the research, every question has to be justified. And make sure to have open-ended questions.
Specific Feedback: For task 3, add an introduction of what methods I will use in the research before the justification. I also have to justify which RQs the method leads to. Ms Yip Jinchi also told me to base all of my justification on literacies. I also have to make meeting plans with the interviewee and justify which platform I will be using if I conduct the interview online. For the content analysis, I also have to justify what are the genres I will be using
Week 10
General Feedback: Start sending out surveys or interviews. make sure to support the questionnaire with literature.
Specific Feedback: For the interview, right short descriptions of each interviewee. Start reaching out to the interviewee with a proper email. An example of a proper interview request email is provided in teams. For the content analysis coding scheme, Ms. Jinchi suggested that I can also use literacies other than research journals. I can also use books.
Week 11
General Feedback: Interviews or surveys can be opened up until the end of the module.
Specific Feedback: For the interview, my questions are suitable because it is general and would lead to an open-ended answers. However, the specified questions should only be asked when the interviewee has any answers to connect to that specific topic. Ms. Yip JInchi suggested that in an interview, it is better to ask few questions but could uncover the big picture.
Week 12
General Feedback: make sure to also include conclusions of the research in the paper.
Specific Feedback: The content analysis should include a support from literacies to justify any statements
Week 13
General Feedback: Ms. Yip Jinchi reminded to leave a little space for our face video on our presentation.
Specific Feedback: adjustments have to be made in the slide presentation so it is easier to understand by the viewer.
Week 14
General Feedback: The presentation video must be under 10 minutes. Check on the MIB on how to submit everything
Specific Feedback: I have to add conclusion and references in my slides and make a few adjustments.
