PROCESS

Introduction to Brand: Thermobrew
Listening to the business students brief their product proposal and their concepts

First meeting
We discussed the concept of Thermobrew. The business student stated that they are targeting two types of audiences: workaholic individuals and travelers. From that, the target audience is assigned to the groups of graphic design students. My group chose the workaholic audience. Then we discussed the logo. They wanted the logo to be a simple design. And they would also like to have a mascot.

Logo and Mascot Design
My group decided to have every member to make sketches for the logo. Below is the sketches I made:

The design I am going for is mainly to promote that they're product is to brew coffee that why I added a lot of coffee-like elements. I also, remembered they mentioned they want to try and have bears as their mascots so I tried to incorporate it.

And these are the sketches my teammates:

After making the logo, we consulted with the business students to choose which logo they liked. One of the business students mentioned that they liked my bear illustration, but we all agreed that it is somewhat similar to a coffee shop brand called Bask Bear.

They suggested that we mix the abbreviation style from the other team as the logo.

They decided to have this style of mascot:

This is the final look of the logo after several revisions of the stroke size.

Packaging shape Design
Same as the Logo designing process, we have everyone in the group make sketches for the packaging.

And this is what my teammates made:

The final packaging they chose:

We chose to not differentiate the style of packaging from the workaholic and adventurous group because it would make the brand inconsistent. So, both teams will use the same die line.

However, this dieline was created before the prototype of the product was created. When the prototype was already 3D printed, it turned out that the measurements were bigger than what was initially told, so we needed to change the measurements of the dieliene.

Packaging Illustration Design
The illustration part is the part that we decide to be different. And my group will be focusing on targeting workaholic people.

Before starting on making the illustration, we had the business students choose the color palette. They chose these colors:

This is what I made, The idea is that the mascot is inside a tall building in the middle of a city, that's why I made the background as a skyline:

And this is what my teammates made:

The Final packaging they chose:

Merchandising
For merchandising, we were told to come up with 4 items and all of them have to have a theme. This means that all of the items have to connect in a certain way. Hence, my group and I did a brainstorming to decide on the theme and the 4 items.

REFLECTION

I enjoyed the whole process of this task because everyone in the team is very cooperative and also supportive. The dynamic was not stiff, but also still very professional. It was a lot easier to do everything in a group. From this experience, I also learned a lot about taking a job from clients and taking criticism and suggestions well. Even though this task was not guided by our lecturer, I still learned a lot from my teammates from their own experiences.
